If there was ever a need to relive the ’80s, the time for your retro mania is now, what with six iconic stars from the era heading to Meydan for a trip down memory lane.

Belinda Carlisle, Boy George, Kid Creole and The Coconuts, Paul Young, The Real Thing and Curiosity Killed The Cat are all en route to Dubai for the Here and Now Festival, marking the 10th anniversary of the company’s global tours.

Fancy dress shops are selling out and Mums and Dads are dusting off their old wardrobes to join in the festivities.

“Few events have such a broad appeal to so many nationalities and so many age groups,” said organiser James Magee from Global Event Management. “It is great to see all the families getting involved and so excited about the Festival, it really is quite refreshing to see quality acts for the whole family being received so well, there are so few things to do as a family together.”

For all you pop-aholics who want to relive the ’80s era before the big concert day, our suggestion is to put together a mix-tape – come on, who used CDs at the time – and bung on these popular tracks, including Carlisle’s “Heaven on Earth”, “Circle In the Sand”, “Leave a Light On” and “Summer Rain”.

Add to that a peppering of Boy George’s “Karma Chameleon”, followed by “Bow Down Mister” and “Everything I Own”.

Paul Young’s tribute act will include his now infamous,  “Love of The Common People” and “Every Time You Go Away”.

If the effort still stands, then try and brush up on your Curiosity Killed The Cat hits with “Misfit” and “Name and Number”; Britsh soul band The Real Thing’s “You to Me Are Everything” and “Love’s Such a Wonderful Thing”; and finally, Kid Creole and The Coconuts’ Latin grooves with “Don’t Take My Coconuts” and “I’m a Wonderful Thing Baby”.

Those eager to please, doors open at 6pm, with a two-hour long Happy Hour, with the show kicking off at 8.30pm. Tickets are priced from Dh350 to Dh995, which includes a private suite with international buffet, dedicated open bar, waiter service between 7pm and 11pm and VIP after party entrance.
