His own 'Direction': Zayn Malik to perform 'Live' in Dubai

Zayn Malik broke a thousand hearts last year when he quit 'One Direction' and did not perform at the Dubai show.

The boy band performed as quartet for the first time in Dubai leaving fans weeping for the fifth member.

However, Zayn decided to make-up for all the tears and announced his first 'Live' concert as a solo performer in Dubai.

The British singer of Pakistani origin will be performing at the Autism Rocks Arena this October 7.

117Live officially announced that they will be bringing Zayn to perform live at the Autism Rocks Arena for one night only. This will be Zayn’s first stop in The Middle East and of course, there will be a global tour to follow soon.

Malik's first single 'Pillowtalk' and his brand new studio album 'Mind Of Mine' received phenomenal response from fans.

His risky endeavor to break away from the band paid huge dividends as the now-solo singer's debut 'Mind of Mine' set Billboard 200 history after debuting at Number One in its first week of release.

Malik became the first UK male solo artist in history to debut atop the Billboard 200 with their first album. Malik also became the first UK male singer to top the Billboard 200 since George Michael achieved the feat with Faith in 1988, Billboard reports.

And to top it all 'Mind of Mine' bested even Sam Smith's 'In the Lonely Hour', which topped out at Number Two. Malik became the first British solo artist since Susan Boyle in 2009 to debut at Number One with their debut album, and the first U.K. act in general since his former crew One Direction did it in 2012 with 'Up All Night'.

Going Solo

Earlier Malik has admitted he is 'surprised' that his solo career has taken off following his departure from One Direction.

The 23-year-old singer shocked fans when he left One Direction last March but despite his international fame, he admits he was initially amazed at how successful he is.

Speaking to Beats 1 radio, he said: "It was really surprising to me. I kind of didn't set out with the intention to be as successful as it was. When it did well I was surprising myself. With each thing I'm putting out I feel more confident and it gives me new ideas. I just take everything one step at a time."

Meanwhile, the 'Pillowtalk' hitmaker previously revealed he ‘always wanted’ to leave One Direction.

He explained: "I just gave it a go because it was there at the time. I think I kinda always wanted to go. From the first year, I never really wanted to be there in the band. When I realised the direction that we were going in, mind the pun, with the music, I instantly realised it wasn't for me. How do you write a song from five people's perspective?

"I think the boys knew that in terms of the music, that wasn't my cup of tea. When I was leaving the band, they didn't want me to leave. But I'd already made up my mind at that point."
