Bollywood heartthrob Hrithik Roshan is giving actor Salman Khan a run for his money after hiking his salary to Rs 30 crore (Dh19.891m).

According to media reports, Fox Star Studios production house will have to fork out the whopping amount to Hrithik for his leading role in the Bollywood remake of 2010 romantic comedy - ‘Knight and Day’ - which starrred Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz.

The news made top headlines in the Indian media as he became the highest paid Bollywood actor and replacing Salman Khan on any front is not a minor accolade for any actor in the tinsel town. The runaway success of Hrithik's last film ‘Agneepath’, another remake, led him to hike his charges.

Salman Khan has been the highest paid actor so far. He charged Yash Raj Films' a whopping Rs27 crore (Dh17.816m) for his last blockbuster ‘Ek Tha Tiger’.

The Bollywood version will be directed by Siddharth Anand, which will have Katrina Kaif in the lead along with the light-eyed actor. It will obviously be fine-tuned to whet Bollywood audeince' appetite. The shooting will start some time next year.

Meanwhile, Hrithik is working hard in his father, Rakesh Roshan's famous franchise 'Krissh' and will soon be seen in the third edition 'Krissh 3'. The film is tentatively scheduled for release in 2013 Diwali but no official announcements have been made so far.
