Hrithik, Sussanne separation: Arjun Rampal says 'don't blame me'

Bollywood is still reeling with the news of Hrithik Roshan and his wife Sussanne's separation.

The couple that inspired awe and envy in B-town celebrities tied the knot on 20 December, 2000, after the phenomenal success of Hrithik's debut feature 'Kaho Na Pyaar Hai'.

But now, Sussanne walked out on her husband with their two sons – Hrehaan, 7 and Hridhaan, 5.

As their divorce news hit the headlines, rumours about actor Arjun Rampal’s proximity with Sussanne was reported by Indian media as one of the reasons for the star couple’s separation.
 
Rampal was taken by surprise by these rumours. He asserted that the duo is his close friends and that he is upset with his name being unnecessarily drawn in.

In a statement Rampal said, "It is very sad when friends close to you take a decision to separate. These are the hardest times for them and we must be sensitive to towards this decision, rather than creating speculation and rumours.

"I read in the news as the same time as you all about my involvement in this marriage. It saddens me deeply that rumours become inevitable during celebrities going through such times.

"Mehr (his wife) and I wish them only peace and love through these times and support them as friends should and we wish them and their families well always(sic)."

But the Roshan marriage has been under the weather in the past as well.

Barbara Mori, Uruguayan-Mexican model who paired with Hrithik in 'Kites', is said to be the reason for first major rift in their relationship.

Hrithik's closeness to Mori almost broke the marriage for the first time.

Before Barbara Mori, Hrithik was linked with Kareena Kapoor. Some tabloids said that Kareena was in love with Hrithik for a year, but he didn't respond as he was married.

Friction between Sussanne and her mother-in-law is another strong possible reason for the split.
 
Both women have been at loggerheads for some time now and that is the reason Sussanne wants to call it quits.

Arjun Rampal's statement comes after a series of communique from the couple.

A statement from the actor confirms. “Sussanne has decided to separate from me and end our 17-year relationship..."
 
"This is a very trying time for the entire family and I request the media and the people to grant us our privacy at this time,” says Hrithik,

He also goes on to profess his unconditional love for his wife on his Facebook fan page.
 
He wrote, "This my greatest tribute to love. Sussanne is and always will be the love of my life and for the rest of my life. If her smiles are brighter without me my love for her will accomplish that. Unconditional."

Sussanne on her part wrote, "We are two individuals who respect and care for each other and have made our own individual choices."

"We are parents to two wonderful kids and our responsibility remains to protect and take care of them. Nothing can change that," said Sussanne, who is the daughter of veteran actor Sanjay Khan.

"Thank you for your warmth and concern for both of us and the family," she said.
