While millions are charmed by Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, there’s still a section who appear to be unimpressed with their antics.
A cleric in Meerut made an unusual announcement when he said the Khans aren’t fit to be role models for the youth. And, appealed to parents not to name their children after the Bollywood stars.
Interestingly the observation was made during the cleric’s address after the Eid ul Fitr namaaz, a time when SRK’s latest Eid release ‘Chennai Express’ is breaking box-office records.
In fact, the cleric believed that actors captialised on Eid by releasing their movies during the festive season, and hinted that they do so without contributing anything for the better of the community.
According to the Times of India, Qari Shafiq-ur-Rehman said “there was no point naming one's children after Salman or Shah Rukh Khan as they were no ideals or role models”.
For the last few years, Salman has released his movies during Eid. And each have turned into big blockbusters. Notable among them are ‘Wanted’, ‘Dabangg’ and ‘Bodyguard’.
Shah Rukh Khan's ‘Veer Zaara’ was released during Eid in 2004.
“The name of a person makes an impact on his personality and thinking. Therefore, I advise parents to choose their child's name for its meaning,” he told the Times of India.
