Is it time for Justin Bieber to get knocked out by Manny Pacquiao?

Justin Bieber messed with the wrong national hero. The teen star insulted Philippines world-champion boxing legend and congressman, Manny Pacquiao.

Unfortunately the 18-year-old pop singer has been threatened with a ban from the Philippines after the insult.

On December 8, Pacquiao faced a defeat by knock out to rival Juan Manuel Márquez.

Bieber, a big fan of boxing, took the opportunity to kick Manny while he was down, posting images to his Instagram account of Manny after the blow.

The Canadian took to his Instagram account and posted photoshopped images of the unconscious fighter.

Pacquiao released a statement saying he would pray for Bieber.

The boxer's fellow Filipino politicians have not been quite so passive.

“Mr. Bieber should have known that the Hon. Pacquiao has reached his stature as such as a result of sheer hard work, determination and firm belief in God, and despite such stature best exemplifies humility and grace even in defeat,” said a collection of seven congressmen for the Philippines.

The members have filed a resolution demanding an apology from Bieber for what they deem “distasteful comments … lest he be declared persona non grata”.

In one, the late Michael Jackson is inserted in the ring, clad in his outfit from hit song ‘Smooth Criminal’ paraphrasing the hit song’s line “Manny are you ok, are you ok Manny?”

In the other, the Simba character from the Disney movie The Lion King is placed on Pacquiao as he lays out cold on his stomach with the caption “Dad, wake up” – a mock-up of the scene where, * SPOILER ALERT,* Simba’s father King Mufasa is killed.
