The famous British spy who survived 22 films and countless attacks on his life returns to the big screen once again, with UAE audiences among the first globally to see James Bond in ‘Skyfall’ on October 26.

Daniel Craig reprises his role as the broody 007 agent, with regional distributors Gulf Films confirming that the action film has already created quite a buzz in the market with the release of its official poster.

Speaking with Emirates 24|7, the rep said: “This region will be amongst the first to see ‘Skyfall’, which will release on a Friday time to coincide with the Eid Al Adha holiday on October 26.

“The movie releases simultaneously in the UK, with a November 9 release date for the US market and other corresponding dates in different countries.”

When quizzed about the fan following James Bond demands in this region, the rep said: “Historically, action films have always done well in the UAE, with ‘Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol’ recording the highest ever ticket admissions at 660,000.”

Without confirming whether the EON productions film could possibly beat the record of the Tom Cruise thriller – which was largely shot in Dubai – he did however state that the 23rd installment of the James Bond franchise should beat all previous records held by any 007 movie released here.

“We are quite positive that ‘Skyfall’ will do much better at the UAE box office than any of its predecessors here,” he said, adding: “Aside from the fact that the film is also being released in IMAX format, it is also the 50th anniversary year for James Bond and that in itself will be a crowd puller for fans.”

With an unconfirmed production budget of $150 million, ‘Skyfall’ ropes in Academy Award winner Sam Mendes (“American Beauty”) at the helm to direct that latest 007 thriller.

Craig returns in his third outing as the secret spy and ladies’ man, where his loyalty to “M” (played by Judi Dench) is tested as her past comes back to haunt her.

As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat.

Oscar winner Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes also star.

The official trailer of the film has already generated quite a positive buzz, with this installment’s Bond girls being essayed by Naomie Harris and Bérénice Marlohe.
