The Kardashians clashed over their 2013 holiday photograph when photographer David LaChapelle suggested it should be a girls-only shoot.

The Kardashians have unveiled their most artistic Christmas card to date.

The reality TV family hired renowned photographer David LaChapelle to take this year's festive family tableau, which is set in a bizarre futuristic casino with mannequin parts strewn all over the place.

Kim Kardashian was no doubt the stand-out in the post-apocalyptic photo, wearing a show-stopping Yves Saint Laurent dress with a strategically-placed cut-out to emphasise her ample cleavage.

Her mother Kris Jenner gave her a run for her money, sitting regally in a cashier booth wearing a giant headdress, while rising stars Kendall, 18, and Kylie, 16, took pride of place in the centre of the photograph, showing off their new grown-up looks.

Khloe and Kourtney were seen posing with the mother-of-two's children, Mason and Penelope, and Bruce Jenner - who recently confirmed his separation from Kris - stood at the edge of the elaborate neon set, looking out forlorn inside a glass case.

Things didn't go quite to plan on Sunday's (01.12.13) festive episode of 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians: A Very Merry Christmas' when David suggested it should be a girls-only shoot.

Bruce was furious when he heard of David's "arty farty" plan and intentions of banning him alongside Kourtney's partner Scott Disick, Khloe's husband Lamar Odom and Kim's fiancé Kanye West from the shoot. The girls' brother Rob opted out of it, further distancing himself from his family's showbiz lifestyle.

Bruce fumed: "I think that is a terrible decision. It's our family Christmas card. We've done it for 23 years."

The former Olympian was eventually reinstated, with Kris musing: "I didn't realise he felt this way. There's so much drama going on in our family right now."

Meanwhile, Kourtney insisted her children should feature in the "pop culture" photograph and clashed with temperamental David on set when she turned up with them unannounced.

She resolved: "I really think my kids should be part of it. I know he is an artist but it's still our family Christmas card. They will be in it."

The card is certainly worlds' apart from the clan's simple 2012 Christmas card, which featured the entire family, children, partners and pets, celebrating together.
