Kareena's 'Heroine' not based on Deepika

After delivering hits like ‘Chandni Bar’, ‘Page 3’, and ‘Fashion’, director Madhur Bhandarkar is finally working on his ambitious project ‘Heroine’.

The film made news when actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was signed for the project, which she coudn’t do, citing pregnancy.

Kareena Kapoor is now Madhur’s ‘Heroine’. Talking about the film, Madhur says, “It’s a contemporary film, that shall suit the current day scenario and the modern day industry. 40% of the film is complete. The next schedule begins on April 10 and shall go on till May. Hopefully, we shall finish shooting by May.”

Rumours suggested ‘Heroine’ to be based on lives of various actresses. It was speculated that the film is based on yesteryear divas Madhubala and Marilyn Monroe. Later, stories also suggested the film to be inspired from lives of model turned actress Deepika Padukone, and actress Manisha Koirala.

But Madhur denies these stories. Infact, he had clarified these rumours few days back as well through twitter. “No, it hasn’t been inspired from anyone’s life. Though, a lot of perceptions are involved, and people believe it to be based on someone’s life. But it’s an original film. Kareena’s character Mahi Arora, is a modern, real character and has no shades of whomsoever.”

The film is expected to reveal the underbelly of the film industry and its well-kept secrets.

And while talking about the film, the director also revealed about a special item number of sought in the film. Says Madhur, “There is an item number in the film called ‘Halkat Jawaani’ that shall be picturised on Kareena. We shall record the song soon.”

The national award winning filmmaker also claims that ‘Heroine’ shall be a great film in Kareena’s career.

“It shall be a very different film for Kareena. One of her best work. A milestone in her career.”

Talking of ‘Heroine’, we prod the director about his favourite heroines in Bollywood, and he says, “It’s difficult to choose. I have many favourites. But if I have to name, I’d say Nutan, loved watching her films. Also, Tabu is my favourite too.”

‘Heroine’ is expected to hit the theatres in September this year, of course, that is if no further glitches happen. Apart from Kareena Kapoor, the film also stars Arjun Rampal, Randeep Hooda, Divya Dutta and Shahana Goswami.
