Saudi Arabia’s Middle East Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) television will launch the long-awaited Bollywood channel on October 26, the company said on Tuesday.

MBC Bollywood had originally been scheduled to start transmission in mid October but the plan was postponed to that date.

“Await the launching of MBC Bollywood on October 26...,” MBC said in an announcement on its television, which also gave details of the channel frequencies.

The new channel will raise to 14 the number of TV channels owned by Dubai-based MBC, a private Saudi venture and one of the largest media firms in the Middle East.

Over the past few weeks, MBC has advertised heavily for the launching of the new channel, which will showcase movies, TV series and other events from India.

MBC’s channels include Arabic language MBC 1 and MBC drama as well as MBC 2, MBC Action and MBC Max, which are dedicated to foreign movies and series.
