26-year-old beauty from North Cotabato, Mary Jean Lastimosa, was crowned the Binibining Pilipinas Universe 2014.

The Binibining Pilipinas Tourism 2014 title went to 25-year-old Dubai-born registered nurse, Parul Shah.

The daughter of Dubai-based Filipina and Indian expats made it as one of the 15 finalists in last year's pageant but failed to bag a title.

The Binibining Pilipinas Tourism looked confident and readdy to perform her new duties.

But before her crowning moment Parul suffered wardrobe malfunction on stage during the swimsuit round.

Recalling her experience during a television interview Parul said she was among the first batch to go on stage for the swimsuit round.

Since they were the first batch, (from one to ten), they were given two minutes quick turn-around to change into their swimsuit.

She wrapped a shawl around her waist and took the center stage. But when Parul pulled the shawl off, the string of her swimsuit got loose.

But the quick thinking beauty managed to hold on to the strings before it slipped completely.

She bravely walked the ramp and completed her round.

Meanwhile, Shah and four other Filipina beauties are preparing to compete in international pageants this year.

Mary Anne Guidotti from Taguig City was crowned Binibining International 2014.

Kris Tiffany Janson, a 24-year-old financial analyst, was crowned Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental.

Expectations are high this year following the recent success of the Philippines in the international beauty pageant scene.

Last year, the country brought home three beauty pageant titles: Mutya Johanna Datul won Miss Supranational, Bea Rose Santiago won Miss International, and Megan Young won Miss World.

Among the judges in this year's Bb. Pilipinas include reigning Miss Universe titleholder Gabriela Isler, ABS-CBN channel head Cory Vidanes, news anchor Korina Sanchez, collegiate basketball player Jeron Teng, and senator Juan Edgardo Angara, among others.
