Nice terror attack: Rihanna cancels concert; '50 Shades' crew safe

'Fifty Shades Darker' producer Dana Brunetti has confirmed the cast and crew of the movie are "safe" following a terrorist attack in Nice.

The sequel to 'Fifty Shades of Grey' has been filming in the French city, which was targeted by a terrorist attack last night when a lorry ploughed through a crowd of people celebrating Bastille Day, leaving 80 dead.

Dana Brunetti, who produces the movie - which stars Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan - confirmed the movie's cast and crew were not harmed during the horrific events.

He tweeted: "Back safe in my hotel room. Thanks for everyone's concern and messages.

"As far as I know everyone from our cast and crew is safe. Thanks for everyone's concern."

He also wrote on his Facebook account: "From production:

"Production has confirmed that everyone working on location in the south of France is okay. Everyone has been accounted for and is safe and sound."

Thanks for everyone's messages and concerns. Another sad day for France and the world."

E.L. James, who wrote the books, tweeted: "Just heard about the horrendous events in Nice. Appalling. Thoughts are with the families of the dead and injured."

It is not yet known whether the tragedy has affected the production on the erotic drama film, which is due to be released in 2017.

Rihanna was due to play a concert in the French city tonight but has cancelled the show in the wake of the terrifying attack.

Rihanna has cancelled her show in Nice after a terrorist attack in the city last night left 80 people dead last night.

The 28-year-old singer was due to play at the Allianz Stadium tonight as part of her 'Anti World Tour' but has pulled out following the tragedy, which saw a truck plough into a crowd of people who were celebrating Bastille Day last night.

Rihanna was in Nice when the attack took place but her representative has confirmed to Billboard that "she's safe".

Nice mayor Christian Estrosi confirmed on Twitter that the Bajan beauty has cancelled her show and also revealed the city's jazz festival won't go ahead, and that flags will fly at half-mast today.

Interior Ministry spokesman Pierre-Henry Brandet said afterwards that the lorry driver had been "neutralised" and that there were no hostages taken.

The horrific attack comes just months after Eagles of Death Metal were caught up in the terrorist attacks in Paris, France, in November when their concert at Le Bataclan theatre was stormed by gunmen.

As well as the mass shooting at the venue, in which 89 people were brutally killed, three suicide bombers struck near the city's Stade de France football stadium.

Just last month, a security guard killed 49 people in a terrorist attack at gay nightclub Pulse in Orlando, Florida.

Several celebrities paid tributes to the victims, including Taylor Swift.

She took to her Instagram account to share a handwritten note which began "To the families of..." and listed all 49 victims of the mass shooting.

She added the message: "As you bury your loved ones this week, please know that there are millions of us sending you love and our deepest sympathy in the face of this unthinkable and devastating tragedy."
