Bollywood diva and now rising star of Hollywood, Priyanka Chopra appears on the June/July front cover of Maxim.

The 33-year-old actress looks gorgeous - but her armpit has landed in the centre of a controversy, social media calls it 'armpit gate'.

The glamorous shoot, by fashion photographer Nick Saglimbeni, sees the rising star posing in a variety of seductive poses including wearing a black part PVC dress, an over-sized shirt and heels, and a hot-pant catsuit with knee high black boots.

After gathering all the praises for her look, the actress' armpit in now holds the attention for looking 'unrealistically' smooth.

Users on Twitter have been quick to claim that the stunning actress' crease-free pits in the images are the work of Photoshop.

Social media user ‏@chillilemonwine wrote: 'Priyanka Chopra's armpit in the Maxim cover is so unrealistic'.

‏@yanizahar said: 'I read how they edited Priyanka's armpit to be flawless and unrealistic and wow, that is such an expectation of armpit.'

@moukarin added: 'Wish I was as stunning as #PriyankaChopra 's armpit without Photoshop.'

Others were non-plussed by the potential body shaming issue, and seemed aghast that people were actually discussing the actress' upper arms in the first place.

‏@sukidusanj  wrote: 'Who would have thought that one day the world would be talking about @priyankachopra's #armpit. Power to her!'

Other shots of the actress appear to show her armpits in a more natural state suggesting that the images for Maxim may well have had a designer's touch on them.

The Indian men's magazine has yet to comment on the claims.

Priyanka Chopra, who stars in US television series Quantico, appears on Maxim India's June/July cover with a strangely smoothly armpit.
