Katrina Kaif's career hasn't seen sunshine for a long time now, and she needs a hit to spike the diminishing career graph.

Her last two outings 'Bang Bang!' (2014) and 'Phantom' (2015) came across as insufferable.

The doll-faced lady, who often rides on her co-star's box office appeal, is probably one A-list actress in Bollywood without a singular hit by virtue of her own acting prowess.

Nevertheless, she is paparazzi's darling and always makes a good headline - thanks to her relationship with Ranbir Kapoor.

But, it's time the actress takes on challenging roles and not just 'dance' her way to the box office.

Kaif has 'Great Expectations' from her upcoming film 'Fitoor'.

So, a box office hit is what she and her team desperately want.

As 'Fitoor's' promotional obligations took off, we expected theatrics from her camp, but we certainly didn't see this clinical 'break-up' coming our way.

Ranbir and Katrina's balcony 'coochie-coo' moment came just a day or two before 'Fitoor' trailer was launched.

The promotional team didn't really have to work much as all the hard work was done by the 'oh so private couple'. We are talking about the same couple here who went out of their way for almost half a decade to dodge the cameras.

Then the shocker - an exclusive report on Ranbir, Katrina's 'official' (whatever that means) break-up.

Tabloids and entertainment websites went on a tizzy dissecting everything about what could have gone wrong and Katrina again was the talking point.

'Fitoor' promotions went on as scheduled and there is nothing one reads or hears about co-star Aditya Roy Kapur or the talented Tabu.

Katrina's impromptu meeting with ex-boyfriend Salman Khan post the 'break-up' added fuel to the already raging fire.

But there's a strong buzz that it could be yet another example of the oldest method of film promotion.

Some sections of the media are of the opinion that Katrina is so 'cool' precisely because it's all an 'act'.

Amidst the promotional blitzkrieg, a big break-up which leads to a knee-jerk reaction from media and fans alike, is a boon for any PR team.

Let's not get too naive regarding this 'break-up move' as both Ranbir and Katrina haven't commented on their 'reported' split.

Katrina brushed aside the questions several times and let the rumours swirl around.

She is definitely not breaking into a sweat and Ranbir in the meantime is keeping a low profile.

So, there's still a possibility that a Valentine's Day date post 'Fitoor' could be on the cards.

"By 14th, I hope and I pray that we (Aditya and her) all are very happy in our own spaces and celebrating. And hope I’ve got a wonderful reaction for the film. That’s what I hope I’ll be doing," she responded to Aditya's Valentine’s Day date offer.

Cool as a cucumber, Katrina is surely playing her part well.
