Salman Khan and Shah Rukh haunt Sanjay Leela Bhansali

Sanjay Leela Bhansali had a dream script, had a dream cast, for years he researched and planned to film it but Bhasali could only manage to live the characters from his 'Bajirao Mastani' for over a decade and a half.

'Bajirao Mastani' was planned earlier to be made with Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor along with Rani Mukerji as the star cast.

And filming was to start right after 'Black.'

A poster of Salman in a moustache and Kareena Kapoor with him was also created after a photoshoot. But the film didn't take off.

He is finally making his magnum opus with Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra in the lead and the filming is in the last stage.

In the meantime, director Sooraj Barjatya has signed Salman Khan in the lead for his film 'Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo'.

He will shoot a sequence in a 'sheesh mahal' set with the help of one of the biggest art directors in the country – Nitin Desai.

The sheesh mahal is a palace of mirrors, and was first used in the K Asif film 'Mughal E Azam' released 55 years ago.

Filming in the palace of mirrors is tough until and unless the mirrors are made and placed in such a way that the cameras or unit are in no way visible on any mirror. Asif made that possible then.

Bhansali's 'Bajirao Mastani' also has a much more grand sequence of a sheesh mahal.

The set designer (Shriram and Saloni) took over 36 days to erect and has been built on a 12500 square feet area with over 20000 mirrors. That is 500 square feet more than the space used by Asif for 'Mughal E Azam'. But that had taken two years to build at a height of 35 feet.

Salman's 'Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo' releases on November 11 that is a good month ahead of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film.

And now to make it tougher on the release date, the Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol film 'Dilwale' with Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon directed by Rohit Shetty will clash with 'Bajirao Mastani'.

The last time Bhansali had clashed with SRK, it was when 'Saawariya' met 'Om Shanti Om' and 'Saawariya' was beaten hollow.

SRK had Deepika Padukone with him then, but the actress now is on Bhansali's side.

Will she make a difference? Wait and watch!
