Shah Rukh Khan skips IIFA Florida, bats for IPL 7 in Abu Dhabi

IIFA 2014, saw the amalgamation of two big movie industries in Tampa Bay, Florida - Hollywood and Bollywood.

Bollywood's IIFA night (International Indian Film Academy Awards) with a viewership of roughly 800 million people, has gone to the United States for the first time in its 15 year history.

The four day extravaganza came to an end on April 26 night.

Foray of Indian stars flew down to Tampa Bay - Deepika Padukone, Sonakshi Sinha, Priyanka Chopra, Shahid Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan etc were present at the award function.

But the king of Bollywood was missing from the gala event. Shah Rukh Khan skipped the action in IIFA and opted to fly down to Abu Dhabi.

Shah Rukh Khan tweeted: "Racing against the sands to reach Abu Dhabi for the game. It's good to see how even rocks move on..."

Farah Khan's directorial 'Happy New Year' (HNY), starring Khan in the lead has completed its night schedule, after a 30-day shoot and the actor grabbed the opportunity to be in UAE for the on-going Indian Premier League.

The maverick actor was seen cheering from the VIP enclosure for his IPL cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders struggling against Preity Zinta's Kings XI Punjab.

The cameras picked up the star rooting for his team and the spectators cheered loud when he appeared in the big screen.

Fans, who had otherwise come to see the match, had a taste of Bollywood with Preity hysterically cheering for her KXIP and Shah Rukh for KKR.

Kings XI Punjab produced a disciplined bowling display to compensate for their batting failure and notch up a comfortable 23-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders in Abu Dhabi.

A jubilant Preity celebrated with a selfie with team member while Shah Rukh watched Scarlett Johansson to pacify his bleeding heart.

SRK tweeted: "Lost match not good. dinner...life discussion and then a scarlett johansson film with my lovely daughter....priceless".
