SRK on reality shows: Publicity or popularity?

It was the night of the grand finales on Indian television channels this weekend. Three popular reality shows drew to a close amid thunderous applause and soaring TRP ratings. ‘Just Dance’ on Star Plus, 'India's Got Talent' on Colors and 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L`il Champs' on Zee TV chose their winners late Saturday night.
Apart from raising pulses, praying relatives and poll requests, one other common factor on all three shows was Baadshah Khan.
Shah Rukh's presence added glitz and grandeur to the already power packed shows. Though each of the shows had other Bollywood stars, the biggest cheer was heard when SRK made it to the stage to encourage the finalists. Shah Rukh did everything from singing, dancing, cracking jokes and interacting with audiences to make the gala events even more resplendent.
And, of course, he didn’t miss out on promoting his own flick. He charmed the audience and enthralled fans with "Chhammak chhallo" from Ra.One.
Apparently King Khan agreed to be a part of these grand finales to also promote his much-awaited science fiction. He even distributed the film's merchandise, a G.One doll, on the shows.
The grand finales were well–scripted, indeed. While the show organisers made all effort in generating the buzz and capitalising on TRP ratings thereof by roping in SRK, he in turn used the stages well to promote his dream project.
Did the popular shows really need SRK to wind off? Or is he feeling the heat as Ra.One premiere nears?
