Solange launched into astonishing elevator attack on Jay-Z after he said he was going to Rihanna's party without Beyoncé.

According to the New York Daily News, the blazing row was actually sparked by Jay-Z, who snapped at Solange when two of her friends tried to use his name to get into the starry after-party at The Standard hotel in Manhattan following the gala last week.

And it was when Solange demanded they leave that Jay-Z said he was heading off to Rihanna's bash without Beyoncé', prompting Solange to hit out at him.

Solange Knowles angry at Jay Z for refusing career boost

Solange Knowles reportedly lashed out at Jay Z because he has failed to help boost her career.

The singer, 27, physically attacked her brother-in-law in an elevator at the Met Gala after-party in New York City on Monday night (05.05.14) because the rapper has reneged on repeated promises to work with her in the studio.

A source told the MailOnline: "Solange is so angry because Jay Z promised to give her more help with her career and when she brought it up again the night of the gala, he told her he just didn't have the time to work with her in the studio. He hasn't kept his promise to help her.

"Jay keeps telling her to give him some time and he will sit down and write with her and then get her into the studio but he hasn't done it yet."

Surveillance footage emerged yesterday (12.05.14) of Beyoncé's younger sibling hurtling towards Jay - real name Shawn Carter - in a lift in The Standard Hotel, while the 'XO' hitmaker watched on helplessly in the background.

Prior to the drama, Beyoncé, 32, and Solange were seen dancing up a storm on the dance floor with supermodel Naomi Campbell, while the Jay, 44 - who has two-year-old daughter Blue Ivy with his spouse - "hung back at one of the fireplace areas".

However, it is believed the 'Holy Grail' hitmaker wasn't the only one to receive a telling off from Solange that night as she was reportedly seen yelling at fashion designer Rachel Roy earlier in the evening as well.

Solange Knowles 'yelling' at girls close to Jay Z

Prior to lashing out at Jay Z, Solangewas allegedly warning women to stay away from him.

A source told Us Magazine: "Solange was yelling that anyone who gets close to Jay has to be warned and deal with her as a sister."

The violent altercation between Jay and Solange began to escalate after the rapper and his wife Beyoncé tried to get the brunette beauty to leave the party.

A second insider said: "Jay said something small to her along the lines of, 'You are out of line.' Solange was being a loudmouth and snapped at Jay trying to calm her down and get her out of there."

After the attack Beyoncé followed her sibling out and joined her in an awaiting car, while Jay opted to travel alone.

The insider explained: "Bey was just trying to keep the peace and get Solange home, which is why she went with Solange in the car.

"Both Bey and Jay were trying to handle the situation. Solange has been that way before, and Jay and Bey just wanted to get her out of there and home before she really caused a ruckus."

Beyonce 'used to' Solange's temper

Solange Knowles has "definitely" lashed out at Jay Z before.

Beyonce, looked on as Solange attacked and insiders say the couple appeared unfazed by the "tantrum" because it is common for her temper to explode.

A source told Us Weekly magazine: "Solange has flipped her lid like that before.

"She is genuinely a sweet and nice person but she also keeps s**t real. She can take a small thing and it triggers her.

"This is not the first time this has happened. That's why Bey and Jay were so calm. They are used to this from Solange. It has definitely happened before."

A source said: "It is a testament to Beyonce's calm nature how she kept back and played the peacekeeper here. She is so calm and always the peacekeeper."

However, an onlooker at the Met Gala claimed the singer didn't seem like herself throughout the evening.

The source said: "She wasn't smiling, was hardly with Jay, she was off with Solange the whole time."

Solange deletes photos of Beyoncé on Instagram

Solange Knowles has reportedly deleted photographs of Beyoncé from her Instagram account.

The 27-year-old singer has erased all of her snaps with her older sister, apart from one posted 15 months ago, from the photo-sharing site after video footage emerged yesterday (12.05.14) of her physically attacking the 'XO' hitmaker's husband Jay Z last week, according to RadarOnline.com.

It is not known for definite what caused the aggressive disagreement, but the couple showed no signs of trouble in paradise when they were spotted at a basketball game between the Brooklyn Nets and the Miami Heat at the Barclays Centre in New York City.
