The truth about SRK’s meeting with Thackeray

Much has been spoken about Shah Rukh Khan’s visit to right wing politician Raj Thackeray’s house. It was being speculated that with his upcoming film Raees starring Pakistani actress Mahira Khan, that Shah Rukh was visiting Thackeray to ensure a smooth release of the film.

Karan Johar’s film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil which starred Pakistani star Fawad Khan was in trouble with Thackeray’s party after they threatened to disrupt the screenings of the film. SRK also played a delightful cameo in the film.

Karan Johar had even said that he would not cast any Pakistani actor in his films till the political tensions between India and Pakistan subside.

But then the ‘truth’ or so it seems from sources close to Raj Thackeray’s party, is that and the politician never spoke about Raees in his meeting with the Bollywood superstar.

“They had a quiet tea session and Raj asked Shah Rukh Khan if he was making any Marathi films. Khan did say that he had three Marathi films in the pipeline that his company Red Chillies was producing,” says a source close to Thackeray.

“There was no talk absolutely about disruption of any sort of the film Raees. In fact, Raees was not even on the main agenda of the discussion,” says the source.

It is being said that Shah Rukh was not keen to have any media present at the meeting. But the political party did call up their media sources to take a good advantage of the meeting for their political gain in view of the forthcoming municipal corporation elections in Mumbai.

Anyway, it will be good to see the lack of any imbroglio before the Raees release. Khan needs a big hit desperately now after his films in lead roles like Dilwale and Fan not living up to expectations. However Dear Zindagi which had Khan in an extended cameo has done well and will perhaps get SRK more ‘raees’ (wealthy) at the box office.
