Vivek Oberoi patches up with Sanjay Gupta, to play encounter cop

After the successes of films like Krrish 3 and Grand Masti, Vivek Oberoi is teaming up with director Sanjay Gupta again. The film is called Mumbai Saga and will have has Vivek playing a fearless cop. But when asked about it, Vivek preferred to give a diplomatic answer.

“There are some exciting things happening now and I have taken a break to read some scripts. There are two three very important things that I may get associated with and will be announced before the end of the year,” says Oberoi.

Whether Vivek talks about it or not, but the fact is that he and Sanjay Gupta have patched up. Vivek Oberoi had refused to work in Sanjay’s earlier film Shootout At Wadala. As a result of that differences had cropped up between the two.  Sanjay had given a very meaty role to Vivek in his earlier film Shootout At Lokhandwala. But the role offered to Vivek in the film’s prequel - Shootout At Wadala was not meaty enough for Vivek and as a result he rejected the film. Sanjay was upset with Vivek’s attitude, but all seems well between them now.

Sources inform that the character being played by Vivek has been inspired by Mumbai’s encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar  who was killed in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. For Vivek, the role will not be any less than challenging. Vivek has successfully played the role of a gangster time and again in his career but playing a real life cop will be a first for him in his career.

2013 was a fairly decent year for Vivek, his villainous character in Krrish 3 was appreciated a lot, and his adult comedy film Grand Masti was a success at the box office.

Vivek wants to keep the upward swing steady in his career and as a result of which he seems to be in no hurry to sign any film.  “I really want to be safe and correct when I am signing movies and I need to do a role that I enjoy and at the same time, it needs to be good for my career. I am in a good stage in my career and I want to keep the trend going,” says the actor.

The recently released Hollywood film Amazing Spiderman 2 saw Vivek Oberoi’s voice resonating in the Hindi version. Vivek also wants to take credit for the success of the film.”I am very happy that Spiderman 2 has broken all records and even I have a good track record now with three films in a row. Spiderman 2 has broken records for any Hollywood film in India,” says Oberoi.
