Why is the sequel called Krrish 3?

While a sequel is always tagged with a 2, here’s the sequel to Krrish that is called Krrish 3. Why 3 and one realizes that this is the third in the franchise of Koi Mil Gaya. Krrish was the sequel to Koi Mil Gaya and hence this film becomes Krrish 3.

Incidentally unlike Kites which was sold off to Reliance Big Pictures, Rakesh Roshan has spoken to various individual distributors and sold off the film in various instalments. While Star Tv has bought over the film for an amount around the cost of the film, certain in film deals have also been lined up with brands. Also the music of the film has been bought over by T Series and Eros International has taken over the overseas rights of the film.

Other territories like Central India (CI), Central Provinces (CP), Nizam, Rajasthan and Punjab have been sold for handsome amounts. Mumbai and Delhi-UP are being negotiated for a bigger sum than what the satellite rights of the film has been sold for. The total rights of the film are been sold for around Rs 125 crores, which is a whopping sum in itself. All this before a single frame of the film has been shot and that too with a hero who has given a solo flop like Guzaarish before.
