The fun-filled film of a trio embarking on road trip across Spain has won over the hearts of audiences, with the Bollywood film “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara”, by roping in Rs525 million globally.

Produced by Eros International Media Ltd, in association with Excel Entertainment, Zoya Akhtar’s “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara”, which released in UAE cinemas on July 14, made a net collection of Rs283.5m across India and Rs120m overseas.

This, however, has not beaten the collections of Salman Khan’s “Dabangg” and “Ready”, which are the highest openers of all time, collecting a cool Rs485m and Rs406.5m respectively.

The film has opened to rave reviews across 1,800 plus screens worldwide and stars Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif, Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol and Kalki Koechlin.

Commenting on the opening, Nandu Ahuja, Sr VP, Distribution, Eros International Media Ltd said in a statement: “We are thrilled with the response by critics as well as audiences and it’s a very proud moment for us as “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara” has opened to great occupancy across the country.

“As a distribution strategy, we went out with more multiplex screens rather than single screens as we anticipated it would fare well with those audiences. The film is running to packed shows all over with multiplexes registering over 90 per cent occupancy; the current figures strongly indicate that the film is a super hit in the making”.

Pranab Kapadia, President of Distribution, Eros International added: “Despite close competition from “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 2”, especially in the overseas markets, “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara” has stood firm ground and performed exceptionally.

“The film is enjoying a superb response with a fabulous opening across United Kingdom, Australia, Middle East and is the highest Hindi film grosser overseas.”

Ken Naz, President, Eros International, USA added: “The film has taken an excellent opening in United States. The reports are extremely encouraging and we are expecting the superb performance of the film to continue through the week.”

With “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara”, Eros International is focusing on its distinct de-risking strategy of monetising film content through pre-selling the film’s satellite rights and recovering major investments.

The comedy/drama chronicles the story of three friends who embark on a journey across Spain when one of them decides to get hitched. Along the journey, new experience, love and heartache awaits them, but also creates a bond between the trio that teaches them about life and its many joys.
