Armed men shot and killed five people Tuesday in a public square in a suburb of Monterrey in the north of Mexico, police said Tuesday.

The victims were between the ages of 15 and 20 years, according to theĀ  security spokesman for the state of Nuevo Leon.

On Friday, some 15 armed men killed 20 people in a Monterrey bar. No one has yet been arrested for those killings.

Metropolitan Monterrey, which has some 4 million people, is next to the state of Tamaulipas, where a bloody battle between the criminal group Zetas, run by former elite members of the Mexican military, is battling drug traffickers from the rival Gulf Cartel gang.
