Batman Ride: Will it be in Dubai’s Six Flags theme Park?

Reaching the speed of 54 miles per hour and a drop from 105 feet from air, Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, a US-based theme park company, will unveil its new Batman ride in San Antonia Texas, in July next year.

The ride, which the developer claims to be the world's first “four-dimensional free fly' roller coaster”,  will flip riders upside down in rotating seats as the ride negotiates a series of twists and drops.

The question is whether the region’s first Six Flags theme park, developed by Meraas Leisure and Entertainment, a subsidiary of Meeras Holdings and Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, coming up in Dubai will house the coaster or something better than that for thrill-seekers here.

The theme park is set to open by late 2017. No details of rides have ever been disclosed.

Emirates 24|7 has emailed questions to Six Flags and is awaiting response on which rides will be set up in Dubai.

Dubai is expected to receive 25 million tourists by 2020, the year when it will host the World Expo event. Major entertainment and leisure projects will be completed before 2020, including Bluewaters Island that will house the word's largest ferris wheel.

In March, the companies said the project is planned to open in late 2017 and will be located within the multi-themed park project in Jebel Ali.

Meraas is currently developing a Dh10-billion destination that is focussing on delivering a multi-faceted leisure and entertainment experience to residents and tourists.

The project will feature five distinct theme parks based on movies, animals and fun characters that shall appeal to all demographics. Dubai Adventure Studios, the first phase of the development plans for which were announced by Meraas in December 2011, will anchor the new destination.

The Themed Entertainment Association said earlier, “What’s happening in the Middle East, especially Dubai and Abu Dhabi, reflects the overall, worldwide return to a positive outlook in attractions markets.

“There is more optimism now, a lot of interesting projects being planned and expectation of future growth and expansion. The Middle East is unique because of its demographics as people are much younger there than in other markets.”

The $1.1-billion Six Flags already has 18 parks across the United States, Mexico and Canada.
