Class, major cause of mid-air anger

As per a new study one of the major causes of people lashing out mid-air is the difference in class.

Yes, you heard it right.  When passengers who have picked seats in the economy class are forced to walk through the First class to get their seats, it causes a feeling of insecurity and inequality.

A new study published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences it is the sense of inequality that often causes mid-air rage, an Australian daily reported.

Passengers are 2.18 times more likely to get agitated if they were forced to walk through first class instead of boarding straight into the economy section in order to get to their seats as people feel a sense of deprivation and inequality.

It’s that sense of unfairness that often leads to people lashing out.

On the flip side, a 12-fold increase of air rage was seen among first class flyers in the same situation where economy passengers also boarded in the first class section.

People from higher status are more likely to be anti-social and are often more arrogant and less compassionate

The information was gathered over recent years from a large international airline that couldn’t be identified.

However, incidents of air rage were reported to be 1.58 among economy passenger for every 1000 flights on planes with a first class section, and 0.31 for first class flyers.

According to the study, economy passengers were more likely to have emotional outbursts, such as panic attacks, while first class flyers were more likely to express anger or be drunk.
