Newlywed Katy Perry popped into Selfridges on Friday to launch her debut fragrance, Purr.

The 26-year-old singer, who wore a vibrant purple dress, posed in front of a huge advertisement for the scent, which features her on all fours in a tight catsuit, complete with a tail and ears, next to a huge ball of hot pink yarn.

The “Teenage Dream” singer said she was delighted to be asked to launch the scent, which comes in a cat-shaped bottle embellished with diamantes. “My sense of smell is so important to me. A guy can walk into an elevator wearing Acqua di Gio, and I’m immediately like ‘You’re my first boyfriend.’ I want my fragrance to have that effect on people,” she told the Daily Mail.

“I really wanted to develop a scent that was completely unlike anything I'd smelled before and not one that smelled like a knockoff of another scent.”

The name Purr, she said, was because she is “a very lyrical-based person, and the whole ‘purr’ thing kept coming back – perfume, perfect, even Perry if you say it a certain way. It just seemed logical.”

Purr features the scents of peach, apple, green bamboo, jasmine, freesia, Bulgarian rose, vanilla orchid, white amber, sandalwood and musk.

And she’s already working on a new set of beauty products.
