Sophia Loren brightens up Dubai tonight

Hollywood legend Sophia Loren will make an appearance at The Dubai Mall tonight, as part of a launch event for luxury jeweller Damiani.

Big-spending customers have been invited to the event, which Loren is hosting with Vice-President Giorgio Damiani. Key pieces from the brand’s Masterpieces collection of high jewellery will be presented to select shoppers and key media at the company's flagship store, a spokesperson said. The actress has been associated with Damiani for several years.  

Loren, 76, has won some 50 international awards, including two Oscars. She is currently at work on a two-part television biopic of her early life titled, “La Mia Casa È Piena di Specchi” (translated as My House Is Full of Mirrors), based on of the memoir written by her sister Maria.

Established in Italy in 1924, the 85-year-old fine jewellery brand began expanding internationally at the end of the 1990s and is now sold through nearly 80 points of sale, including 38 boutiques. The Damiani Group was listed on the Italian Stock Exchange in 2007.
