You need not be a fashionista to look glamourous. Especially with winter setting in and cozying up becomes essential, if you fear of looking dowdy, fret not. Just pick up that jacket, splash around your favourite accessories and rest assured you look hot!

A tip from the experts...black and deep brown are the colours of the season. So just for it!

Dubai-based fashion designer Furne One explains how to accessories the classic winter wear to get today’s look. His haute couture label Amato caters to Arab clientelle.

A jacket is the staple of any wardrobe. “Both men and women need to just pick one up and accessories it. If you have the classic black or deep brown jacket you could use shades such as dusty pink or sour lilac to make it look more appealing. Dry and vintage colour is the trend.”

For this Winter cold pastels are in which has never been before, he added.

Accessorising is the key to smarter look. Layers of necklace and heavy earrings are in vogue for women. However, when it comes to belts, the thick heavy ones are out this season, go for the thin, shiny leather belts for that touch of elegance, says Furne.

Formal wear

If men need the formal look, then nothing to beat the classic long coat. Couple it with slim pants and patent leather shiny shoes and you are ready to check in.

Women, on the other hand, can enhance their formal wear in slim, stretchy, simple cuts and heavy accessories with ankle length fur boots, says Furne.

Evening wear

Whoever says black is the colour of the night. Party wears can be jazzed up with jewelled tones, he says. Ignore the boring black and grey and adorn some deep jewelled tones such as emerald, topaz and purple velvet.

Rajiv Nihalani, owner of Nihalani brothers apparel group, has plenty for kitty party evenings.

Dubai climate is moderate, and hence you can go all out in trying the various textures. Rajiv says, “Women should wear silk satin and silk crepe de chine tops and dresses as they are perfect for winter.”

However, if you are not comfy with an overstated style, then settle for a long evening wear or a jumpsuit and spruce them up with scarves or stoles or even a well-fitting jacket, says Nihalani.

And those of you who love to strut along in minis, the rule remains the same...accessories for that unique look!
