Call it cooking up a world record or one for the New Year, but Dubai plans to usher in 2013 in style – by breaking a world record.

The emirate’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing and Emirates Culinary Guild plan to break a Guinness Record on Friday, January 4, 2013, the eighth anniversary of the accession of UAE Prime Minister and Vice-President HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum as the Ruler of Dubai.

The Location will be Meydan. The existing record was made in Korea in May 2012, with 2011 Chefs gathered in one place.

Grand Belle vue Hotel will be part of this event. If you’re a cook or a chef at any hotel, catering company, a private house, restaurant ort clubs, you’re invited to join the fun. All the organisers want you to do is to come in a clean chef’s Jacket, apron and chef’s hat and arrive at Meydan from 14:00 onwards.

The photo shoot will be approximately 16:00hrs.

Emirates 24l7 learns that team is working on it to give the event a real Emirati flavor with traditional entertainment and Emirati food.

We also learn that the plan is to break the previous record by not just a few but by a few hundreds – plans underway hint at a target of 2,500-plus chefs.
