In line with its commitment to improve patient access and provide personalised care, HealthPlus announced plans to expand the existing services of its Fertility Center located on Abu Dhabi Island.

The construction works have started to double the capacity from 500 square meters to over 1,000 square meters, with an additional state-of-the-art Operating Theatre and six additional preparation and recovery rooms. Not only will HealthPlus expand its facility and cadre in Abu Dhabi Island, but will also open a clinic for IVF treatment in Al-Ain. The new Center in Al Ain will be a welcomed addition to HealthPlus network of specialty centers. HealthPlus is a network of premium outpatient centers owned and managed by United Eastern Medical Services (UEMedical).

The Dh8.5-million investment in IVF services comes also in response to the growing demand on fertility diagnosis and treatments in general, and the increase in number of patients coming purposely to visit the well-known HealthPlus Fertility Center.  Moreover, a recent study in Abu Dhabi that was published in the local press has also revealed that there was a shortfall of over 3800 treatment cycles in Abu Dhabi that are required to help married couples conceive and in the next five to ten years this shortfall will increase to up to 4500 cycles. At the same time, HealthPlus statistics revealed that 30% percent of the patients at the HealthPlus Fertility Center travel from Al Ain for treatment, therefore, leadership of UEMedical and HealthPlus saw that the establishment of a satellite facility in Al Ain is needed and will decrease the couples’ needs to travel long distances and will reduce the cost burden on them.

Appraising the role of the Health Authority of Abu Dhabi in supporting the private health sector to improve their medical services and specialties, Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa Al Hammadi, Managing Director & CEO of United Eastern Medical Services and Chairman of HealthPlus Medical Services stated, “Our expansion plan comes in line with the Health Authority – Abu Dhabi strategic priorities to improve health care services in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi following Abu Dhabi 2030 vision.”

Al Shorafa Al Hammadi further added, “HealthPlus Fertility Center is UEMedical’s latest testament to its commitment to being a world class healthcare provider in the UAE. We are thrilled to have struck the right balance between a highly accessible caring environment, personal attention and emotional support accompanied by medical excellence and technological excellence. With that and based on our findings, the decision to expand the facility and open in Al Ain was derived. This is a tribute to the continuous dedication of our entire medical team whose skill proved invaluable in attaining patients’ loyalty and achieving high pregnancy success rates consistently placing us amongst the very best in the country.”

“In the last year of operations, we have witnessed phenomenal growth in the number of couples seeking fertility treatments at our center. This can be attributed to a number of factors of which the most significant is our exceptionally high success rate. In order to cope with the increasing demand for our services and to help reduce patient waiting time, we have taken the decision to more than double our current capacity. This will allow us to perform up to 800 IVF treatments each year. The completion date of the constructions is expected to be by October 2012. By then, two more internationally renowned IVF Consultants will join our existing team to complement our successful pathway and continue improving our success rates that are comparable to international standards,” said Majd Abu Zant, CEO of HealthPlus.
