Now you can get contact lenses in gold and diamonds, too. A doctor in Mumbai, India, offers his clients glittering eyes, fusing gold with regular contact lens, reported ‘DailyMail’.

The sparkling eye bling, which weighs 5 grams, costs between $15,000 and $18,000 (approx. Dh55,097 and Dh66,116).

The 24-carat particles were added to the normal eyewear at Shekhar Eye Research India in a specialised paste form. And to avoid contact between eyes and the gold, an extra layer is applied, the report added.

Dr Chandrashekhar Chawan plans to sell it outside India. However, it’s not yet known if the gold particles will affect vision, the report added.

Some say they are yet to be approved by the US Food and Drug Administration.

Describing his diamond contact lenses to USA Today, Dr Chawan was quoted as saying that he got “mixed responses”. “Some said it looks scary, but most of the people loved it,” he added.
