The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) will honour 50 most frequent users of Dubai public transport means spanning the metro, public buses and the water bus.

The use period stretches from the introduction of Nol card system with the launch of the Metro Red Line on 09/09/2009) up to October 30, 2011 to commemorate the 2nd edition of the Public Transport Day on November 1, 2011.

Mohammed Yousef Al Mudharrab, Director of Automated Fare Collection Card at RTA Corporate Technical Support Services Sector, said such initiative manifests RTA’s growing attention to public transport users and endeavours to encourage community members to use them so that public transport means will turn into the ideal choice of mobility across Dubai.

“More than 50 public transport commuters in Dubai will receive an additional credit of Dh100 on their Nol cards (Blue, Gold and Silver Nol cards), provided that the card has to be initialised through the website (www.nol.ae) except for Nol Blue card; which is already initialised,” said Al Mudharrab.

“This is a technological procedure that the holders of winning cards have to complete in order to claim the additional credit,” he added.

“The winners will be announced on October 31, 2011 i.e. on the eve of the Public Transport Day on November 1, and their names will be published in the press statement,” continued Al Mudharrab.

During the Public Transport Day on 1st November, public transport commuters holding Nol cards get free rides on public transport means (metro, buses and water bus) for one day from 6am up to midnight.
