New organisational structure for Ministry of Education

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has approved the organisational structure of the Ministry of Education, which aims to strengthen the role of the ministry during the next phase and develop the work in the educational field.

The new organisational structure identifies the ministry's tasks in providing education for all citizens of the country along with developing educational plans, preparing curricula and examination systems and adult education programmes in addition to establishing schools and institutes and monitor their performance.
 
In addition to consolidating the principles of national identity as being the centre of the educational process, it also aims at qualifying students with balanced knowledge and skills to be able to achieve the aspirations of their countries and meet the needs of the labour market.
 
The ministry is also concerned with the design of curricula that combine the privacy of community and openness to the scientific development witnessed by the world.
 
The structure also defines the role of the minister and the powers conferred upon him to upgrade the educational process under five organisational units for providing administrative support, co-ordination and organisational, financial and administrative follow-up they are Office of the Minister, Office of Internal Audit , Strategic Planning Department in addition to the director-general, advisors and experts.
 
Moreover, the structure pointed out the tasks and functions of the Director-General of the Ministry of Education and the affiliated organisational units, which include: Office of the Director-General, Department of Organizational Excellence, Office of Organizations and International Educational Relations, and Governmental Communication Department and School Districts in addition to 5 executives directors concerned with overseeing the development and implementation of relevant policies, standards and plans.
 
The structure also includes identifying the tasks entrusted to the executive directors at the Ministry of Education and the affiliated organizational units where the structure includes 5 executive directors working in their respective areas of competence to supervise the following sectors: private education sector, education policies sector, activities and school environment sector, educational processes sector and support service sector.
 
The decree will be effective from the date of issuance and will be published in the official gazette.
