220 students promote solar cooking in UAE
UAE students gathered together to promote solar cooking.
The solar project - a CSR initiative to promote solar power as an alternative to conventional energy - saw 220 students join hands to make it a success.
The project is an invitation for young minds to harness sun’s energy and go onto become a new generation of leaders who are aware and inspired.
The beta test phase consisted of 220 students from the UAE, between the grades 5 to 8, cooking a packet of noodles in a simple-to-use solar cooker, that the students assembled by themselves.
The project took off at three schools that were part of the pilot viz. the Ambassador School, followed by Raffles World Academy and DPS Academy.
The inspiration for The Solar Project is from India, where the largest solar cooking session was held on January 4, 2014, which went into the Guinness Book of World Records with participation of 3,639 participants.
