1,350 chickens roasted to death in farm fire

Nearly 1,350 chickens were roasted to death in a massive fire that engulfed a farm in Saudi Arabia, a newspaper reported on Wednesday.

Civil defence men who put out the blaze at the farm in the Western town of Taif saved the rest of the nearly 12,000 chickens but large egg boxes were destroyed.

Sabq newspaper quoted a civil defence spokesman as saying the blaze was caused by a power fault in the farm’s main electric system.
