10 traffic offences in Sharjah every day in Q1
Sharjah Police booked 206 vehicles and recorded 879 offences of reckless driving in the first quarter of this year.
Major Mohammed Alai, head of the Traffic and Patrols Department, said the way these motorists drove their vehicles created a danger to the public.
Maj Alai said police vigilance would continue since reckless driving had claimed many young lives.
He called on parents and guardians to monitor their children, meet their friends and companions and advice them on the dangers of reckless driving. He advised parents not to provide their children’s cars with additions and engine modifications to increase their speed.
Sharjah Police clampdown on bikers
Sharjah Police in its latest campaign seized 186 motorbikes last week. Some of the vehicles were booked for reckless driving while some others did not have licences.
Major Abdulrahman Khater, director of Traffic and Patrols, said several residents had complained about disturbances by motorbike riders in their areas.
He urged parents to monitor their children and educate them on rules for using motorbikes.
