17 accused of killing Sharjah worker

Seventeen Pakistani men are on trial in Sharjah on charges of murdering an Indian worker at a watch shop after one of them was caught stealing.

Another Indian was also seriously injured when the 17 attacked the shop in Roula neighborhood with knives and sticks.

The court was told that the victim was on duty during the day when he saw a customer snatching a watch. He chased him and managed to recover the stolen item.

Newspapers said the thief returned at night with 16 other Pakistanis and assaulted the worker and his colleague, killing him and seriously injuring the other.
