20 wriggling maggots found under man's skin

A man in China was astounded when he was told that medical reports revealed he had 20 live maggots living under his skin, Asia One reported.

Ma had been to Africa on work. While still in Africa, he suddenly developed red, itchy soars on his abdomenal and thigh areas.

He consult a local doctor but his the problem did not go away.

Two weeks after returning to China, Ma noticed pus like cells in the affected parts and decided to go the doctor. The dermatologist who examined it, informed him that maggots had nestled under his skin.

Blood tests confirmed the diagnosis. He had to undergo surgery to get the worms out of his body. A total of 20, live and wriggling maggots were removed from under his skin.

The worms were later identified as 'tumba fly' maggots, a type of fly whose larvae is known to feed on living human tissue. They are often found in Africa.
