'2nd UAE India consulate in Kerala'

The second UAE Consulate in India will soon open in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, after the State Chief Minister Pinarai Vijayan signed documents to finalise the deal.

T P Seetharam, Indian Ambassador to the UAE, told Emirates 24|7 that the opening of the second UAE consulate in Kerala is a welcome gesture but the official announcement has to come from the UAE Foreign Ministry.

According to Seetharaman, the opening of second UAE consulate will speed up the issuance of visa and other documents and strengthen bilateral diplomatic relationship.

According to Indian diplomatic sources, the UAE’s second consulate in India is likely to be functional early next month.

The announcement will be made soon, according to Indian diplomatic sources.

The consulate, which will be the third diplomatic mission in India, is located in Manacaud Thiruvananthapuram, the state capital.

Dr Ahmed Abdulrahman Al Banna, UAE’s Ambassador to India, iscussed UAE and India’s strong relations with the then Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy , two months ago.

The Indian state has since undergone an election and political change, with a new government in power.

Pinarai Vijayan, the new Chief Minister, has signed the required documents and the second UAE Consulate in India will be functional soon.

In addition, it will also expedite job-related documentation for aspiring jobseekers to the UAE.

The UAE has considerable investment in India, specifically in Kerala, with Dubai having interests in Smart City Kochi, the DP World port in Kochi and other business interests.
