40 men held for having 'weird haircut'

Saudi Arabia’s religious police arrested 40 local men for having “weird” haircuts and wearing indecent clothes, a newspaper reported on Thursday.

Members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice rounded up the 40 men during separate raids on shopping malls and other public places in the Western town of Makkah, Sada said.

“The men were found to be wearing indecent tight clothes and bracelets in their hands…they also have weird haircuts that violate traditions,” it said.

The paper said the raids were in line with a recent royal order banning indecent clothes and behavior in public places in the conservative Gulf Kingdom.
