5 escape death in high-speed car chase

Five young Emiratis have been seriously injured in a car accident after they were involved in high speed road chase at dawn on Saturday in the Al Quoz industrial area in Dubai.

According to a report in Al Emarat Al Youm, the Dubai police have detained some of those involved in the chase, according to Director General of Dubai Criminal Investigation Department, Brigadier General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri.

Brigadier Mansouri is quoted as saying in the report that: “The police also seized a number of swords from one of the cars which turned turtle near the Al Khail Road”.

He told  Emarat Al Youm : “It happened on Saturday, when four cars carrying a number of young people, were involved in a chase on the road. It is evident there was some dispute between them.

He added: “Two of the four cars dropped off after they saw a Dubai police patrol on the roads. But the other two cars continued which led to a crash and collision between them.

Colonel Ali Ghanem, Director of Bur Dubai police station, is quoted as saying: “The driver of one of the cars was chasing the other and deliberately bumped from behind three times, before his car hit the pavement. Five passengers were thrown out of the car due to this.

He added: “Two passengers were seriously injured and admited to intensive care, while two others had medium injuries. The fifth person was only slightly injured.

He added “Those involved currently undergoing treatment in hospital are under guard and will be subjected to interrogation.”
