50% discount on traffic fines in RAK

Published

The Ras Al Khaimah Police have announced a 50 per cent discount on traffic fines for a period of three months beginning on September 10.
Brigadier Mohammed Al Noubi, Deputy Commander, Ras Al Khaimah Police, said that this initiative is one of many provided to alleviate the financial burden on citizens and residents.

Brigadier Al Noubi said the discount will only be valid for traffic violations committed in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, including those caught on speed radars.

Umm Al Quwain

Umm Al Quwain has already begun slashing traffic fines by 50 per cent and said the three-month decision involves only offences committed in the emirate and vehicles registered in the UAE.

The emirate’s traffic chief Lt Colonel Saeed bin Aran said the move is intended to encourage those who have piled up large fines to pay them.

He told the semi-official daily ‘Al Ittihad’ that the decision is also meant to end anarchy on the road by encouraging a large number of drivers whose car registration or driving licences have expired to renew them.

“We urge all drivers to benefit from this decision, which is considered a good opportunity for the offenders,” he said.
