Baby girl born without vertebrae… with bow legs

A newborn Saudi girl is suffering from the absence of most vertebrae in her backbone and bow legs.

The baby’s mother, Umm Abdullah, said her daughter needs an urgent operation to fix her backbone so she can sit up but she complained that doctors at a specialized government hospital in the capital Riyadh gave her an appointment after one year, Sabq newspaper reported.

“My daughter does not have most of the vertebrae in her backbone while she has what they call duck legs…she is also suffering from deformity in her urinary system,” the Arabic language daily quoted Umm Abdullah as saying.

“I took her to another hospital and doctors told me she has to undergo an urgent surgery…I appeal for all to help me so my daughter gets treatment and can sit up like other children,” she added, without specifying the baby’s age.
