Saudi surgeons removed a round hard battery from the throat of a little boy who had accidentally swallowed the object nearly six months ago.

The doctors decided to perform the one-hour operation after tests and images showed it had settled inside the esophagus of the 4.5-yearold Saudi boy and can be removed.

“The boy had suffered from pains as well as eating and breathing problems for nearly six months before the doctors decided to extract the battery out,” Sabq daily said in a report from the Saudi western town of Madinah.
