Boy sets home on fire over RAK traffic fines
An Arab boy set his house ablaze to force his mother to pay accumulating traffic fines that have led to the seizure of his car by police in Ras Al Khaimah. Police arrested the unnamed boy who is standing trial on charges of burning his family’s house and threatening the life of his mother and sister.
The Arabic language daily Al Khaleej said the mother reported the incident to the police after she and her daughter escaped the fire.
Driver fined Dh 21,500 for smudging car plate
An Emirati driver who smudged his car plate number to shun police speed cameras in Ras Al Khaimah ended up paying Dh21,500 fine. The police traffic court in the northern emirate found the unnamed driver guilty of covering his car plate with a piece of paper in violation of traffic laws.
The court was also told the driver ignored repeated calls by a traffic police patrol which tried to stop him on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed in the city.
