A British woman gave birth at a petrol station in the United Kingdom just after she and her mother stopped for a drink of coke.

Victoria Griffin, 26, was delivered by her mother Lisa in the back seat of her car just before the ambulance arrived in the station in the Welsh town of Rhyl.

“My mum and her partner were taking me to the hospital and we stopped at the garage to get a drink…he decided he didn’t want to wait any longer…my waters broke when we were at the petrol pump,” she said, quoted by Rhyl Journal tabloid newspaper.

“After that it was about two minutes until he was born…mum couldn’t believe that I had a baby n the back of her new car.”

Lisa said she was at the counter at the station getting her daughter a drink of coke when her boyfriend came running and said her “waters had broken.”

“I saw the look on her face and thought the baby is coming…I called the ambulance and I was on the phone but the signal went,” she said.

“Victoria said she needed to push and with one push, his head was out…for the first 30 seconds, it was panic. I held him, the cord was wrapped around his neck a few times and I was keeping them both warm…the ambulance arrived 10 minutes later to whisk Victoria and her son, Jaxleigh, who had a low temperature and low blood sugar levels, off to hospital where they stayed overnight for observation.”

Lisa said the worker at the station did not believe we had just delivered a baby on his forecourt. “Not many people get to deliver their own grandchild…it was amazing.”
