Car dealers in the UAE have approved the unified form for purchase contracts proposed by the Ministry of Economy to facilitate procedures and protect consumer rights.

They conveyed their approval to Dr Hashim Al Nuaimi, Director of Consumer Protection Department at the Ministry of Economy, at a meeting on Wednesday, MoE said in a Press release.

Dr Al Nuaimi stressed that the unified contract will energise the UAE’s automobile sector and make buying and selling activity more transparent, to the benefit of customers.

The unified contract form will be obligatory effective from October 1 this year. Car dealers violating the new rule will be fined according to Federal Law No. 24 of the year 2006 for Consumer Protection.

Car dealers emphasised their commitment to the new contract form at the meeting and thanked the Ministry of Economy for initiating the move, which they said will enhance their business and increase customer confidence, according to MoE.
