A court in Ajman sentenced an Arab man and his European wife to four years in prison and ordered their deportation after they were convicted of possessing drugs, newspapers reported on Wednesday.
The 33-year-old man confessed to possessing and using drugs with his 26-year-old wife after he was seized by police in Dubai in February.
The defendant told court an unknown dealer had supplied him with hashish at an agreed place on the Dubai-Abu Dhabi motorway.
He said that he used to collect the drugs from that place and leave the money for the dealer to come and collect it later.
Medical test showed the couple had used hashish at their house in Ajman, the papers said without identifying the couple.
