Doctor forgets scissors in patient’s stomach

An Egyptian doctor forgot a scissor inside the abdomen of a Saudi patient, who was suffering from ascites, following an operation at a hospital in the Gulf kingdom.

Mohammed Al Haiti said he had severe pain in his stomach two days after he was discharged from hospital in the Northwestern town of Hail.

“I returned to hospital and had an X-Ray. They told me I need to have another operation to remove more fluid from my abdomen,” he said, quoted by Sada newspaper.

“I was told after the operation that they removed a scissor from my abdomen. I reported the incident to authorities and the hospital’s management and they decided to suspend the doctor for questioning.”
