Dubai has withdrawn from the market a new incense burner which officials said could cause burns and electric shocks, a newspaper reported on Thursday.
The product is made of metal but does not contain a “ceramic conductor” against electric shocks while it also gets very hot during the incense burning, the semi official Arabic language daily Albayan said.
“These types of incense burners were found to be very dangerous to users as they could cause burns while they could be damaged by time because they are totally made of metal,” said Sultan al Suwaidi, director of the health and safety division at the Dubai municipality.
“They also lack the known ceramic conducts that could absorb electric shocks…this means they could give shocks to users touching them.”
Suwaidi said the new products are also not registered with the municipality, adding that this constitutes a violation of local laws by dealers.
